Lovable Explained: What It Is, How It Works
By Yuntao Zou, Founder, VentiMap@TaoMachina
Lovable is an AI app builder that turns a written description into a web application. You describe what people should be able to do, then use chat to change the pages and features. The application can include customer accounts, saved information and connections to other services.

What can you build with Lovable?
Common projects include booking websites, client portals, dashboards, online stores and subscription software. For example, a booking app needs a list of services, available times and a way for customers to keep their reservations. Those are the details to put into the first description.
How does Lovable work?
- Describe the person using your app, the problem they have and the result they should get.
- Try the generated app in its preview and ask for changes in chat.
- Connect the accounts, saved information and external services your app needs.
- Publish the app and share its address with users.
Publishing creates a live lovable.app address. Later edits appear in the editor first; publishing again updates the live app. A paid plan lets you connect your own domain.
Is Lovable free? How much does it cost?
| Plan | Monthly price | Starting credits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Free allowance |
| Pro | $25 | 100 monthly credits |
| Business | $50 | 100 monthly credits |
Lovable offers higher credit tiers as well. Its subscription guide lists Pro at $250 a year and Business at $500 a year when paid annually.
Credits cover work such as building and changing the app, running it and using AI inside it. A workspace shares its allowance across members, so the plan price and the amount of use both matter to the budget.
Do you own the app and its code?
Lovable says creators own their projects, code and customer data. You can synchronize code with GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, and paid plans include direct code download. Code export and moving the information stored inside an app are separate steps.
Starting an AI business with no coding experience
Start with the customer and what they would pay for. A proposal tool for freelance designers, for example, needs an input, a useful proposal and a reason to come back. On VentiMap, describe that business and choose Read my report. Your first report brings together the audience, offer and plan.
Your Manager carries that plan into the product, website, payments and ongoing work, while the Work Map shows progress. VentiMap monthly plans start at $20, and VentiMap takes 0% of your product sales; Stripe processing fees are separate.
